The Joondalup RYDE Program provides young people (16-25 years) who live, work, or study in the City of Joondalup with the opportunity to complete their 50 hours of supervised driving with a Volunteer Driving Mentor. The RYDE program operates from the Joondalup Library with different session times available throughout the week.
How do I get involved?
If you want to get involved as a participant first see whether you fit the following criteria:
- 16-25 years old
- Live, work or study in the City of Joondalup
- Have your learners permit.
If you fit the criteria then get in contact with a suitable RYDE Provider. Only a RYDE Provider can set you up as a participant of the program. See a list of Providers here.
How much does it cost?
Participants are required to cover the cost of a RYDE Driving Assessment with a RYDE partnered driving school (approximately $80) before they start the RYDE program regardless of previous experience. This can only be done once you’ve met with a RYDE provider and it ensures young people have the basic skills to drive a vehicle.
After the RYDE Assessment, learner drivers can access RYDE driving sessions for $15 per 90-minute session. This fee is paid via the online booking system. The RYDE Provider can help to explain this part of the process.
What will I need to bring when I sign up?
Please ensure you have the following information with you when you sign up:
- Learners permit number
- Mobile number
- Working email address
Where will RYDE driving sessions take place?
RYDE driving sessions start and finish at Joondalup Library, 102 Boas Avenue.
